The hall stands on the river bank where an old tram depot used to be. Its horizontal bands follow the lines of the river walls, so from the water it reads as part of the embankment.
Site. The hall stands on the river bank where an old tram depot used to be. Its horizontal bands follow the lines of the river walls, so from the water it reads as part of the embankment.
Sound. Every concrete surface in the hall is shaped for sound. The walls are ribbed, the ceiling is folded, and nothing is flat by accident.
Light. Daylight enters the foyer through one tall slot. During evening concerts the same slot glows outward, a signal to the city that the music has started.
